Our VFX and CGI Supervisors and our team of Lead Art Directors, Concept, Environment and Animation Directors are able to board a project at any stage. Starting with storyboards and concepts for characters and environments, through to developing character sculpts, animation tests and previs.

We can also support productions with on-set shoot Supervision and postvis work, alongside CGI asset creation, compositing and FX work. War of the Worlds VFX

With two UK studios, Realtime are able to tackle large scale episodic TV series or feature films. We have delivered series for the BBC, National Geographic and UKTV and are currently working on episodic series for Sky, BBC America and HBO.

We were commissioned by Radical Media to create a range of VFX shots for their Production ‘Year Million’, a six-part documentary for National Geographic Television. The series explores humanity’s potential journey into the coming millennia and into the Universes that exist beyond our own

We produced a wide variety of shots of varying levels of complexity, all delivered at 3K. The team quickly got to grips with the brief which explored future technologies and mans’ exploration beyond Planet Earth.

Radical were able to supply us plates ready to work with for the majority of the shots, which helped speed up the process.  However, we did need to create alien creatures and a galaxy from scratch – which we very much enjoyed! VFX for TV/Broadcast

The team modelled and animated the ‘programable matter ‘shots creating a flexible and intelligent material that could, in theory, mould and adapt itself to deal with the changing needs of Planet Earths environment. We also created universe and worm hole sequences, as well as animating fictional life forms on distant planets.

Mummies Alive

A little look behind the scenes look at the recent work we did for the six part documentary series “Mummies Alive”.

Tony Prosser explains the influence tax breaks for the broadcast sector have had on the work we’re doing at our Manchester-based studio.

Realtime worked with leading UK production company Impossible Factual and Canadian company Saloon Media – on the ambitious 6 x 1 hour series Mummies Alive, produced for UKTV, Smithsonian Channel and History Channel.

Working with Impossible’s creative team and animation director Christian Johnson, Realtime’s in-house artists created all the detailed historical reconstruction sequences for the series, using animation to depict everything from the Wild West and Iron Age Ireland to the Incan Empire. Realtime were tasked with developing a series of different characters within tight time constraints, using a number of software solutions including Max, V-Ray, Hair farm, Krakatowa, Ray fire, Particle flow, FumeFX and Houdini – all part of Realtime’s production pipeline. We performed a motion capture session for each episode at Europe’s largest motion capture studio, Audiomotion in Oxford. Full CG Characters

Working with 3D scan experts Ten-24, who used a custom built rig incorporating 100 DSLR cameras to scan real faces, the process captured character meshes and texture information to be edited in house. Realtime were then able to apply sub-surface shaders to create an accurate representation of skin, and the textures for each character. Taking the animation for this broadcast project to the next level, Realtime’s use of cutting edge technology allowed it to create a truly emotional connection with the audience.

Doors Productions

VFX for Film REALTIME

REALTIME were approached by Kuwait based Doors productions to create a short sequence for their film based on the life of Dr. Saleh Alojairy. With live action plates supplied by Doors Productions, REALTIME created a short VFX sequence that showed the camera passing through space as it dramatically re-enters the earth’s atmosphere before showing a desert sandstorm. All VFX were created by our in-house team using Houdini and AFX.
